Description
If you’re looking for a workshop to
teach you how to draw, this is not the workshop for you. If
you’re looking for a workshop to teach you how to produce comics
electronically, this is not the workshop for you. If you are
looking for a workshop to help you develop a concept into a script
and from a script into a story through visuals, then you are in the
right place. This workshop introduces the genre of graphic
novels and provides tools for drafting a visual story. No
drawing skills required, but a willingness to experiment is highly
encouraged.
Optional
Pre-assignment
Bring on your favorite graphic novel or comic book issue to
share with the group (think Crying Freeman or The Maxx). Watch
at least one movie based on a graphic novel (think Sin City or Dark
Water).
Mandatory
Pre-assignment
Create the main characters you want to showcase in your
graphic novel. Write a ˝ to 1 page description of each
character. Include special abilities, attitude, strengths and
weaknesses, and physical appearance. Decide what conflict your
characters will tackle.
